Earlier, INEC said that it does not know where Barrister Hudu Ari is
The Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba has ordered a police team to work with the Nigerian Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate and prosecute the suspended Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa Ari.

In a statement issued by the command which was signed by its spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the inspector general said the police will ensure that they do everything possible to find out why Hudu did what he did.

The results of the governorship election in Adamawa state were being collected when suddenly Hudu, who is the state's electoral commissioner, declared Senator Aishatu Binani of the APC as the winner of the election.

IGP Usman said that they are ready to ensure that all those found involved in the incident in Adamawa are brought to justice in order to respect the laws of democracy.

The statement confirmed to Nigerians and the international community that the police will investigate the declaration of Aishatu Binani of APC by Hudun and other people involved in the matter to prosecute them in court.

President Muhammadu Buhari has already accepted the decision of the National Electoral Commission to suspend the commissioner of INEC in Adamawa until the investigation is completed.

Buhari has ordered an investigation and prosecution of Hudu Ari, as long as he is found guilty.

In the past, the Nigerian Electoral Commission (INEC) said it did not know where Hudu Ari went since it suspended him.

Thank you.
