In a statement from the French law firm, Vey & Associes, the allegations against the 42-year-old famous ex-football player were rejected saying that "the case will involve defamation".

He added that Eto'o has not been informed that any action has been taken or that he has been notified of any legal action.

On Friday, the player was accused of facing legal action related to match-fixing and the Cameroonian police have documents that accuse him of using his position for personal gain and bribery and other allegations. many accusations.

This is not the first time Eto'o has faced such a challenge.

Last week, a group of sports officials in Cameroon sent an open letter to Fifa saying that the world football governing body is silent, despite the accusations against Eto'o and some of his associates in the country's football governing body.

Those who signed the letter include the senior member of the Fecafoot committee, Guibai Gatama and the vice president of the professional football players of Cameroon, who are presenting the country's biggest tamaula tournament.

It was alleged that the former player of Barcelona, ​​Inter Milan and Chelsea "is pushing himself in an inappropriate way in the chair of the president of the country's football (Fecafoot)."

The letter added that the situation is more important than the one involving the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales and the player Jenni Hermoso, where it led Fifa to suspend Rubiales for 90 days and plan the way to punish him. .

When responding to the letter from the law firm of Vey & Associates, he said that Eto'o has made many plans to change the direction of the Cameroon Football Association and the management of the government which was supported by stakeholders.

They also called the letter dangerous and defamatory, adding that Eto'o has hit the chest of a system that will end some individuals, who are always ready to do whatever it takes to avoid corruption. that they receive.

In June, a group of amateur clubs in Cameroon called for Eto'o's resignation, saying he was unruly, and voted 11-1 to demand his resignation. further forward.

The BBC asked Fecafoot to comment on the issue and the allegations made against her, but she did not respond.

In August, the Confederation of African Football, Caf, started an investigation into the allegations against Eto'o, saying that it had received letters from stakeholders in Cameroonian football, and that it would look into all complaints about law and ethics. Caf.

Caf's statement added that the allegations are serious, but Eto is innocent until a court confirms the allegations against him.

The BBC has not received a comment from Fecafoot on the CAF investigation.
