For the first time, the United Arab Emirates has announced that it will start giving foreigners and foreigners the opportunity to become citizens, but only if they have the skills to improve the value of the kingdom.
The Vice President and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum made the announcement and said that among those to be given the opportunity were investors and professionals in various fields as well as doctors and engineers as well as entertainers such as musicians.
He added that they and their families could be citizens of one country or another.
It is unlikely that poor people will have this opportunity.
Sheikh Mohammed said this is an opportunity to attract those who "will contribute to the development of our country."

There is no set procedure for applying for citizenship, but only high-ranking members of the royal family and high-ranking government officials can nominate the candidate.

The cabinet will then decide whether to approve the request.
The move comes as the cholera epidemic worsens the world, which has led to falling oil prices and forcing thousands of foreigners to leave the country.
In 2019, Sheikh Mohammed launched a scheme to give the inhabitants of the kingdom a green card that allows the holder to stay in the country for a period of 10 years.
But it is not known whether this group of people with green cards could benefit from this new system.
